We Don’t Start with the Device. We Start with the Problem.

A touchscreen, sensor, display or mechanical system is not a solution by itself. We first define what needs to be achieved, then choose the technology and develop a product that addresses the real problem.

The problem comes before the technology

Clients rarely come to us with a fully defined product. More often, the conversation starts with a need: attract attention, explain a product, make a promotion more engaging, simplify a process or create something that does not yet exist as an off-the-shelf solution.

That is actually a good place to start.

If we define a project immediately as a touchscreen, sensor, application or specific device, we have already limited the solution before fully understanding the problem.

First, we define what needs to happen

Technology comes after the questions. Who will use the solution? Where will it be located? How long should the interaction last? What should the user do, understand or remember? Should the system inform, entertain, collect data, trigger an action or simply attract attention?

The same objective can lead to completely different technical solutions.

Sometimes the right answer is an interactive display. Sometimes it is a sensor-based system, a physical installation or a mechanical element. And sometimes the best solution is far simpler than initially expected.

Sometimes it is simple. Sometimes it is not.

We do not try to add as much technology as possible to every project. The goal is to find the right balance between function, user experience, space, technology and budget.

When a project requires a more complex system, a simple user interaction can hide a significant amount of work behind it — electronics, wiring, controllers, mechanical construction, software, power supply, testing and preparation for everyday use.

That is why every part has to be developed as part of the same product.

One product brings multiple disciplines together

Custom projects rarely stay within a single discipline.

The enclosure has to fit the space. The electronics have to be safe and accessible for servicing. The software has to match the way the product is used. The structure has to be stable. Components have to be manufacturable, assembled, transported and installed.

A decision made in one part of the project often affects all the others.

That is why we treat design, mechanics, electronics, software and manufacturing as parts of one system rather than separate tasks.

From an undefined requirement to a real product

The process can begin with a single sentence, a sketch or a problem that still needs to be defined.

From there, we develop the function, user flow and technical requirements. Then come the concept, design, prototype, testing and manufacturing, until the idea becomes a system that can operate reliably in a real environment.

So the question for us is not:

“Which device can we put here?”

but:

“What do we want to happen here — and what do we need to build to make it work?”

That is where product development begins.
